Boards & Commissions
The members of the Township Council appoint all board and commission members, who voluntarily serve the residents of Upper Providence Township. Volunteers can serve for two consecutive terms, except on the Ethics Commission (one 2-year term). Meetings are held publicly in the Township Building once a month, except for the Zoning Board and Planning Commission. They only meet when a case needs to be heard.

Recreation Board (7 Members): 4-Year Term
The Recreation Board is responsible for the establishment, development, and administration of recreation programs in the Township.

Environmental Commission (5 Members): 4-Year Term (1 Alternate -3-Year Term)
The Environmental Commission is an advisory body to the Township Planning Commission, Recreation Board, and Township Council.

Zoning Hearing Board (5 Members): 5-Year Term
The Zoning Hearing Board meets to render final adjudications on land use ordinances and Zoning Codes.

Planning Commission (7 Members): 4-Year Term
The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing land development, subdivision, and conditional use applications, and making recommendations on these applications to the Council.

Ethics Commission (5 Members): 2-Year Term
The Ethics Commission meets on an as-needed basis.

Sewer Authority (5 Members): 5-Year Term
The governing body of the Sewer Authority is a Board consisting of five members, one from each District, appointed by the Township Council. The terms of the members are staggered. The Board is authorized to exercise any and all powers conferred by the Pennsylvania Municipality Authorities Act necessary for acquisition, construction, improvement, extension, maintenance and operation of the sewer systems.
