Backstory
The permanent preservation is a generous gift from residents Andy and Ginger Lewis. This remarkable donation ensures that the land will remain protected, natural, and accessible for the entire community to enjoy for generations to come.
“We are thrilled to receive this land,” said Marsha Peterson, Chair of the Upper Providence Township Council. “It’s a beautiful gift to the community. This donation helps us meet several important township goals. We’ve been actively seeking additional open space and accessible nature trails, and this land provides a peaceful place for walking and enjoying the outdoors.”
Council Member Elgin Akarsoy, who represents the district where the property is located, added:
“This represents a rare opportunity to preserve open space within the Township, and we are deeply appreciative of the donation. Our intention is to ensure that this land remains protected and is never subject to development.”
The preserve was officially opened on Nov. 8, 2025 at a ribbon cutting ceremony with over 100 residents in attendance.
