Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) refers to products commonly used in households that contain harmful chemicals posing potential risks to human health and the environment. These include paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides. Improper disposal of HHW, such as pouring them down the drain or tossing them in the trash, can lead to contamination of water sources, soil, and air, posing serious health risks to humans and wildlife. Handling and disposing of HHW responsibly is crucial to minimize these dangers and protect our environment and health.

Delaware County sponsors four (4) Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events each year. If you’ve ever participated in an event, you leave with a good feeling knowing you’ve responsibly disposed of your hazardous items.
