All open burning, other than a fire set for recreational, cooking or ceremonial purposes is prohibited as defined by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and the PA State Fire Code. A recreational fire is an outdoor open fire that is not larger than 3' in diameter and no more than 2' high, in a device designed to contain fire, which is built for pleasure, cooking, warmth, or religious/ceremonial purposes. Outdoor fireplaces, portable outdoor fireplaces, BBQ grills and BBQ pits are also permitted under the current regulations. Burning yard waste such as sticks, branches and leaves is prohibited for the purpose of disposal. Leaves should be bagged or composted and yard waste should be put out the firts and 3rd Wednesdays for collection.
