[ARCHIVED] School Bus Safety Reminder from UPPD

UPPD Bus Infomercial-Final copy

Officer Karallus Dietrich of the Upper Providence Township Police Department reminds drivers to always stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Children may be crossing the street. It is the law and it saves lives.

Drivers must stop in both directions, at least 10 feet away from the bus, and remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the stop arm is retracted, and all children are safely across.

Under Pennsylvania law, failing to stop for a school bus can result in a $250 fine, five points on your driving record, and a 60-day license suspension when witnessed by an officer. Violations captured by school bus cameras result in a $300 civil fine with no points or suspension.

With school starting back up, give yourself extra time in the morning. Our children’s safety depends on it.
