Three members of the Rose Tree Fire Company No. 1 were awarded honors at the 116th Anniversary Banquet of the Delaware County Fireman’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania.

Assistant Engineer Don Wilkins was presented with the Pio Zappasodi Congressional Fire Service Award, in recognition of his lifetime of contributions to the fire service.  Don has been an active member of Rose Tree Fire Company for over 55 years.  During his tenure, Don has always given his all to the fire service, having served as Chief and Chief Engineer among many other positions.  He remains an active and invaluable member of our crew, presently serving as Assistant Engineer and Historian.  Don has also been a member of South Media’s and Middletown’s fire companies for more than 25 years.

Assistant Chief Michael Cosgrove received the Robert R. Baxter, Jr. Firefighter of the Year Award for his outstanding effort on behalf of the fire service.  Mike is a life member of the fire company with over 23 years of service to Rose Tree. He is always around the station helping to train members. In between drills and calls he can be found at the station assisting with a myriad of work needed to keep the equipment and station in working order. And all of this is to say nothing of the many contributions he makes on the administrative side of our operations.

Don Wilkins and Darryl Harris were also honored with Delaware County Fireman’s Association Life Membership Awards.

We congratulate Don, Mike, and Darryl on their well-deserved recognition, and thank them for their selfless service to our Township.  Commitment like theirs has allowed the Rose Tree Fire Company to provide fire protection to our community for nearly 70 years.
