Upper Providence Township Council proudly recognized the promotion of seven members of the Upper Providence Township Police Department during the regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Officers Christopher Love, Eric Girill, and Karallus Dietrich were promoted from Probationary Patrol Officer to Full-Time Patrol Officer. Corporals Scott Ely and Corporal Michael Habel received promotions from Acting Corporal to the rank of Corporal. Sergeants Lawrence Baker and Sergeant George Moore received promotions from Acting Sergeant to the rank of Sergeant.
Speaking before a packed council room filled with family, friends, and supporters of the Upper Providence Township Police Department, Council Chairperson Elgin Akarsoy thanked each Officer for their service to the Township and presented those receiving promotion with a certificate of appreciation from the Township.
“As a resident of Upper Providence Township, I have always had a great deal of respect and appreciation for the dedicated officers who keep our community safe,” said Chairman Elgin Akarsoy. “Now, serving as Council Chair, I am able to witness the extensive lengths each and every Officer goes to in order to keep Upper Providence safe and secure. This commitment is unmatched, and I can see why the Upper Providence Township Police Department is considered the gold standard for professionalism, transparency, and public service throughout Pennsylvania.”
Prior to the Council vote, Police Chief Montella addressed members of the Department receiving promotions, introduced family members in attendance, and thanked his Officers for their dedication to the community.
