Following the results of the 2020 Federal census, Upper Providence Township Council recognized the need for reapportionment of municipal districts to ensure equal and fair access to elected representation.
The Township underwent a similar process in the past, modifying district lines based upon the results of the 1990 census. In order to address the issue of representative equity, Council directed staff to approach Delaware County officials for support in developing township district maps that more evenly distribute the current township population.
There is a public comment period from October 5th to October 26th. The public may comment on the proposed maps in two ways:
We also encourage the public to attend regularly scheduled Township Council Meetings (the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month):
- Council Meeting: October 13th at 7:30 PM (Township Building)
- Council Committee Meeting: October 27 at 7:30 PM (Township Building)
