A Message from the Fire Marshall

This is a reminder to our residents that all open burning, other than a fire set for recreational, cooking or ceremonial purposes is prohibited as defined by the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and the PA State Fire Code.

A recreational fire is an outdoor open space fire that is not larger than 3 feet in diameter and no more than 2 feet in height, in a device designed to contain fire, which is built for pleasure, cooking, warmth, or religious or ceremonial purposes.

Outdoor fireplaces. portable outdoor fireplaces, barbeque grills and pits are also permitted under the current legislation.

Burning yard waste such as sticks, branches and leaves is prohibited for the purpose of disposal.  Leaves should be bagged, or composted and yard waste should be put out the 1st and 3rd Wednesday for collection.

Thank you.

Alan Mancill, Fire Marshal
